I believe that teachers must first of all know how to use the technologies used in the classroom. Such technologies include: basic use of applications and navigation of computer, able to use and navigate the internet, use smart boards, use camera/camcorder, among other technologies in the classroom. Teachers must then know the different areas of digital citizenship, and then must be able to teach all areas of it to their students. Teachers must all be able to use different forms of technology to help students learn and meet target skills. Alot of teachers either just use technology as a filler or other reasons that aren't in direct relation of what the teacher wants the students to learn, so teachers must learn how to use these pieces as ways to encourage learning, specifically target skills.
These are the main skills that I believe teachers must have! Of course there are several others, but I feel that these are the ones I feel strongest about!

Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteDarn, I forgot to hit post when I just finished a nice lengthy comment! I was already off to look at your book shelf. Then my comments disappeared. Cool idea with the book shelf, do you get a sales commission? :) Did you use this for your Children's Literature class for a data base? I wonder if I could do that. Do you know if there is a way to categorize the books on the shelf or how you can find specific titles on your shelf. I guess I could dig around a bit. I am enjoying this class it is allotting me time to finally see some fun stuff on the internet.
So I saw you again from afar. We were both at the AEYC conference. What did you think? Night, Kimmer
Yes I used this for my lit classes database, and I learned that I could add it to my blog! Anyone can do it! Shelfari is a free site just like blogspot! And you are able to add the link to your site! Don't ask me how specifically, that was so long ago I don't remember! About the organization..I tried to organize it that way, but I don't really think that you can organize by genre or anything. Who knows, you may figure that out just by playing around! Then, you can let me know!
ReplyDeleteI think it's important to have a conceptual understanding of technology. Another essential skill is to know who and when to call for assistance- and to not be afraid to ask for help.
